After a prominent career as an editor, at the age of 57, Nada Gašic published her first novel, „Mirna ulica, drvored“ („Quiet street, A Line of Trees“), for which she was awarded the Slavic Prize for best debuit novel, and in 2010 she published the novel „Voda, paučina“ („Water, Spiderweb“), which was awarded the City of Zagreb Prize and the Vladimir Nazor Prize. Her works include the other two novels of „Zagreb Tetralogy“, „Devet života gospođe Adele“ („Nine livesof Mrs. Adela“) and „Četiri plamena, led“ („For Fires, Ice“), a collectionof short stories „Posljednje što su vidjele“ („The Last Thing They Sow“), and the latest novel „Kutijica od školjki“ (“A Seashell Box“).
